FAQ

Should I be worried about altitude sickness in Cusco?

Should I be worried about altitude sickness in Cusco? Cusco sits at $3,399$ meters ($11,152$ feet). While most travelers feel a bit of shortness of breath or a light headache, it’s easily managed. We recommend arriving a day early to rest, staying hydrated, and trying the local Coca tea—a natural Andean remedy used for centuries.

When is the best time of year to visit?

The dry season (April to October) offers sunny days and clear blue skies, making it perfect for trekking. However, the rainy season (November to March) transforms the landscape into a vibrant, lush green, and the city is much quieter with fewer tourists.

Are there bathrooms or food inside the Machu Picchu ruins?

No, there are no facilities once you pass the main gate. There are restrooms and a small snack bar located just outside the entrance (remember to bring small change for the toilet fee). Make sure to use them before you enter, as re-entry is generally not permitted!

Traveling with kids can be tough, but this team made our Peru trip easy. They took care of every transfer and ticket. The kids loved the boat ride on Lake Titicaca and seeing monkeys in the Amazon. It was educational, fun, and completely stress-free.

My camera roll is full! Between the misty mornings in the Amazon rainforest and the vibrant mineral stripes of Rainbow Mountain, I was in heaven. The great guides knew exactly where the best viewpoints were to avoid the crowds. A photographer’s dream trip.”
